Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Mattel

Chris Farrell is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Mattel. He joined Mattel in 2024. In his role, Mr. Farrell leads the strategic planning and corporate development for Mattel, including opportunities to accelerate growth and profitability and optimize business performance.

Mr. Farrell has over 30 years of leadership experience in strategy, M&A, investment banking, investor relations, and communications, primarily in the consumer and retail sectors. Throughout his career, he has helped companies deliver significant shareholder value and navigate through periods of high growth and change.

Prior to joining Mattel, Mr. Farrell was Global Head of M&A at Ahold Delhaize, the Dutch multinational food retailer with operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. In this role, he was responsible for all M&A activity, both in traditional brick and mortar grocery as well as online. He had previously served as Delhaize Group’s Head of Strategy, M&A, and Investor Relations, playing a leading role in the $30 billion merger between Ahold and Delhaize, the largest M&A transaction in grocery retail history. In total, Farrell spent 10 years with the two organizations.

Prior to Ahold Delhaize, Mr. Farrell served as Chief Strategy Officer at Authentic Brands Group. Earlier in his career, he spent over 20 years as an investment banker, including as a Managing Director with UBS Securities and DKW (previously Wasserstein Perella), primarily focused on providing strategic and financial advice to companies seeking to grow in existing and new markets.

Beyond his corporate development experience, Mr. Farrell previously developed and produced the feature-length documentary “Jimmy Carter, Rock & Roll President,” as well as a documentary on dyslexia called “Left Behind.”

Mr. Farrell has served as a board member for various organizations including the Shelbourne Football Club, Kernel Group Holdings, the Surfrider Foundation, and the Joyful Heart Foundation.

Mr. Farrell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Stetson University and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University.
