Tom Austin, P.E. has extensive work experience in civil engineering and project management. Tom began their career in 1984 as a Project Engineer at Rinker-Detwiler and Associates, where they were responsible for the design of water distribution, sewer systems, stormwater management facilities, and roadway engineering. In 1986, they joined Dewberry & Davis as a Project Engineer/Manager, overseeing various private, municipal, state, and federal government projects. At Mattern & Craig, where they have been since 1996, Tom holds the position of Principal/Vice President/Project Manager. Tom'smain responsibilities include general civil engineering, site development, land use engineering, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, and construction oversight. Tom is skilled in performing feasibility studies, rezoning applications, floodplain encroachment analysis, watershed modeling, and dam break analysis. Tom has a proven track record in directing, coordinating, and controlling projects, as well as supervising project teams.

Tom Austin, P.E. attended Amherst County High School from 1976 to 1979. Following their high school education, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech from 1979 to 1983.
