Alea Surender

Alea Surender has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Alea currently serves as the Director of Public Health Services at the Mattie Rhodes Center, a position they have held since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Youth Development Coordinator at the same organization starting from August 2019.

In 2017, Alea served as a Student Ambassador at the University of Kansas School of Education until August 2019. During the same period, they were also the President of the KU Community Health Outreach Program.

From November 2016 to August 2019, Alea worked as a Peer Health Educator at The University of Kansas. In 2019, they also had a role as a Health and Wellness Intern at Lawrence Public Schools for a six-month period.

Furthermore, Alea has experience as a Medical Screener at CSL Plasma from September 2018 to January 2019, and as an Intern at Eve Medical from June to August 2018. Alea also served as the Social Media Coordinator at Breathe Easy At KU from August 2017 to May 2018.

Additionally, Alea worked as a Leasing Agent at HERE Kansas from June 2017 to March 2018, where they were responsible for informing prospective residents about the amenities and costs of living at the property, giving tours, and assisting with event planning and marketing.

Earlier in their career, Alea worked as a Childcare Worker at Unity Church of Lawrence from October 2016 to September 2017.

Alea Surender completed their high school education at Wichita High School East from 2011 to 2015. Alea then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Community Health at The University of Kansas from 2015 to 2019. Currently, they are attending The University of Kansas Medical Center from 2022 to 2024, working towards a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Public Health.
