Founding Managing Partner at Maven Ventures

Jim Scheinman has extensive work experience in the venture capital and start-up industry. In 2008, they founded Maven Ventures, a leading seed venture fund for emerging consumer software startups. As the Founding Managing Partner, Jim identified future consumer trends and invested in great founders with a vision. In addition to Maven Ventures, they also founded Maven Ventures LLC to mentor and invest in early-stage companies in the consumer internet and mobile industry.

Jim has been involved with several notable companies throughout their career. Jim served as an investor and advisor to Zoom Video Communications, responsible for the initial go-to-market strategy and viral features. Jim was also the first investor and advisor for Epic! Kids Books, which grew to become a prominent platform with millions of users and was recently acquired for $500M by Bygu's.

Furthermore, Jim has held advising roles and served as an investor for companies like Embark Trucks, Cruise Automation, Inc., Tango, Check Inc. (now Mint Bills), Katango, and Social Gold/Jambool. Before their ventures, Jim worked as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Charles River Ventures, where they helped uncover new investments in various areas, including consumer internet, social networking, and online advertising.

Jim Scheinman attended Duke University from 1984 to 1988, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Neuropsychobiology. Jim then pursued further education at UC Davis School of Law, King Hall from 1992 to 1995, obtaining a Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a focus on Corporate Law.
