Kok Kheong Looi has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Kok Kheong started their career as an Equipment Engineer at Chartered Semiconductor in 1991. Kok Kheong then moved on to Siemens in 1992, where they worked as a Service Engineer and Trainer, handling factory automation and providing customer training. In 1993, they joined Nanyang Technological University as a Research Assistant.
In 1994, Looi returned to Chartered Semiconductor and took up positions as Senior Engineer, Group Leader, and Section Manager. Over the course of their tenure, they were responsible for automating forecasting models, managing improvement projects, and executing capacity planning. Kok Kheong also handled equipment startup, installation, and maintenance in the Thin Film Operations department.
Looi joined Fisher & Paykel in 2001 as a Process Engineer, focusing on reducing solder defects and product rework. Kok Kheong also conducted research and implemented automated cost accounting models. In 2004, they joined Chartered Semiconductor once again, this time as a Principal Engineer, overseeing various projects until 2006.
After Chartered Semiconductor, Looi worked at Schott Advanced Packaging / STATS ChipPac Ltd as a Process Engineer and Member of Technical Staff from 2006 to 2007. Kok Kheong then joined Avago Technologies as a Production Section Manager, where they managed production for LED manufacturing and implemented strategies for productivity improvement, cycle time reduction, and cost control.
Looi's most recent work experience was at The MAX Group - MAX I.E.G. LLC, where they held roles as a Project Manager and Operations Consultant. In these positions, they implemented Lean manufacturing systems, led Tiger Teams to achieve equipment uptime and quality improvement, and analyzed fab layout for operational efficiency.
Throughout their career, Looi has consistently focused on improving production efficiency, reducing cycle time, and implementing cost-saving measures. Kok Kheong'sexpertise extends to various aspects of manufacturing, including Lean and TOC systems, fab operations, equipment management, and process improvement.
Kok Kheong Looi completed their B. Engineering & B. Mathematics degree with honors in Electrical from the University of Newcastle, from 1986 to 1990. In 1999, they pursued an MBA from the University of South Australia in International MBA (via Distance Learning), which they completed in 2000.
