Katsuya Tanaka

PHD Student at Max Planck Schools

Katsuya Tanaka is a PhD student at the Max Planck Schools since October 2019, focusing on research areas such as Semiconductor Nanophotonics, Nanofabrication, Ultrafast Optics, and Metamaterials. Katsuya served as a Seminar Teacher at the Abbe Center of Photonics, delivering bi-weekly seminars on "Introduction to Nanooptics" in 2024 and previously conducting weekly seminars on "Fundamentals of Modern Optics" from 2019 to 2021. Prior experience includes a research assistant role at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where Katsuya investigated "Chiral Bilayer Dielectric Metasurfaces" and provided teaching support in Modern Optics. Katsuya holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Science (Photonics) and a Master of Science in Photonics from Friedrich Schiller University Jena and a Bachelor of Engineering in Opto-electronics and Precision Engineering from Shizuoka University.
