Matthew Rutherford has a long and varied work experience. Matthew began their career in 1996 as a Software Engineer at Riverside Technology, Inc. where they developed software systems for the National Weather Service, Panama Canal Commission and the State of Colorado. In 1999, they co-founded Chronos Software, Inc. and served as the Chief Engineer. In 2002, they became the CTO of MindSpeak Solutions, LLC where they designed and developed a sophisticated software product targeting the education and audience-response markets. Matthew also founded Praxes, Inc. - On-Demand Technical Leadership that same year. In 2006, they became the Managing Partner / CTO at Max Acceleration, where they designed and developed an innovative web-application generation framework and deployed multiple mission-critical products to customers. Since 2008, they have been an Associate and Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Denver, where they are generally focused on research and teaching. Their research interests include autonomous / unmanned systems, software engineering, embedded, parallel and distributed systems, cyber-physical systems, software testing, wireless sensor networks, and generative programming.
Matthew Rutherford completed a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Princeton University between 1992 and 1996. Matthew then obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science/Software Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder between 1999 and 2001. Finally, they earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder between 2002 and 2006.
