Rachel Brookhart Carmichael has a long and varied work experience. Rachel began their career in 1999 as a Counselor, Music Director, and Summer Program Director at Peterkin Camp and Conference Center. In 2000, they worked as an Administrative Assistant at Duquesne University, providing administrative assistance to the Director of the Honor's College and the Italian Campus Program. In 2004, they worked as a Receptionist at J. Arthur Greenfield & Co., LLP, where they were responsible for general receptionist duties and extensive client interaction. In 2006, they worked as an Editor at Get Creative, Inc. In 2007, they worked as an Executive Assistant at Draper Consulting Group, where they drafted and edited materials, managed the organization, expansion, and use of the firm's database, and conducted research and provided briefings on clients and potential clients. In 2010, they worked at the Center for Nonprofit Management, where they served as the Marketing & Communications Manager, Resource Manager, and Executive Assistant & Membership Coordinator. In 2016, they began working as a Marketing & Communications Consultant for their own business, and also published a book, Start Your Engines: Nonprofit Management Made Simple. Finally, in 2017, they became a Partner & Chief Marketing Officer at Maxine's Heavenly, a company that makes homemade-style cookies that are sweetened by nature.

Rachel Brookhart Carmichael has an extensive education history. Rachel attained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art Rachel'story and Theology from Duquesne University between 1999 and 2003. Rachel then went on to obtain a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Nonprofit Management from Antioch University-Los Angeles in 2015. During this time, they also completed a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Center for Nonprofit Management and a Certification from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Rachel also completed courses at UCLA Extension. Additionally, Rachel has obtained four certifications: Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance in 2016, Inbound Certification and Email Marketing Certification from HubSpot in 2016 and 2015 respectively.
