Ted Tewksbury is the current director at MaxLinear. Prior to their current position, they were the Chief Executive Officer at Eta Compute from August 2019 to November 2021. Ted pivoted the company from chips to battery-powered AI vision systems and software, raised $12.5M in new VC funding, and cut the burn rate in half. Ted also introduced the company’s first product and grew revenue to $4M in the first year.
From December 2016 to February 2019, Ted Tewksbury was the Chairman, CEO, and President of Energy Focus Inc. During their time there, they rejuvenated the company’s technology leadership by introducing eight innovative new product families and developing a game-changing retrofit platform for smart lighting and Internet-of-Things (IoT). Ted also built a nationwide sales team, reduced operating expenses by over $10M annually, cost-reduced legacy products to enable competitive pricing, and streamlined operations through outsourcing and lean manufacturing. Ted positioned the company for profitable growth and transferred control to an activist investor group in exchange for new financing.
Ted Tewksbury has also been a Board Director for both MaxLinear and Jariet Technologies.
Ted Tewksbury has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same school. Ted also has certificates in Deep Learning and DeepLearning.AI TensorFlow Developer specialization from Coursera, Digital Transformation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Genetics and Genomics from Stanford University.
