Michael Gustafson, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic and serves as the Scientific Director of the Nyberg Human Cellular Therapy Laboratory since September 2006. In this role, Michael leads a team focused on translating basic science discoveries into cell-based therapies and supports the pre-clinical development of novel cell therapies for clinical trials, as well as biomarker development for responses to cell and immunotherapies. Prior to this, Michael worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center from February 2001 to August 2006, concentrating on normal and neoplastic cell cycle regulation and signaling. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Molecular Biology from Mayo Clinic and a B.S. in Biology from North Park University.
