Michael Panzer

Michael Panzer is a Senior Manager – Ontologist at Mayo Clinic since June 2016, where responsibilities include developing vision and strategy for organizing health knowledge through ontologies. Prior to this role, Panzer served as Editor in Chief for the Dewey Decimal Classification at OCLC from May 2007 to May 2015, overseeing strategic direction and collaboration on translations, and previously held positions such as Assistant Editor and Global Product Manager, focusing on taxonomy services. Earlier roles include Research Associate for the CrissCross project and DDC Deutsch project at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, where Panzer coordinated multilingual vocabularies and prepared the German version of the Dewey Decimal Classification. Academic credentials include an M.A. in German Philology and Information Science from the University of Düsseldorf and a brief educational experience at the University of California, Davis.
