Kevin Hoffman is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office. He has 32 years of experience as a civil litigator and trial attorney, with a focus on complex and major case litigation involving high exposure claims. Kevin has been particularly active in the areas of products liability, toxic and mass torts, construction and worksite accidents, premises liability, and environmental claims. In addition, Kevin has experience defending employers against claims brought under New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD), wrongful termination, and other adverse employment actions, including obtaining a defense verdict in a NJLAD case tried to verdict in Middlesex County.

In the area of toxic and mass torts, he has represented product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in litigation involving asbestos, lead paint, mold, multiple chemical sensitivity, benzene, formaldehyde, pedicle screws, and latex gloves. In the environmental arena, Kevin’s experience includes participating as counsel for numerous corporate clients in litigation and governmental actions involving claims for cost recovery and contribution, remediation, nuisance, trespass, property damage, and natural resource damages, involving allegations of contaminated groundwater, discharge of solid and hazardous materials and waste, exposure to toxic fumes and substances and leaking underground storage tanks. These matters have ranged from single-party damage claims to large hazardous waste sites, with representation including property owners, fuel oil and gasoline delivery and/or dissemination companies, equipment inspection companies, as well generator and/or haulers of hazardous waste material. In addition, Kevin has been extensively involved in the representation of several large supermarket chains operating in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states. He has aggressively defended these clients from personal injury suits in New Jersey, and has assisted these clients in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing loss-prevention and risk management goals and protocols.

In 2014, Kevin was elected by his peers to New Jersey’s Asbestos Advisory Committee (AAC). The AAC is a committee of plaintiffs’ and defense counsel active in New Jersey asbestos litigation, which meets regularly with New Jersey’s State Court judge overseeing New Jersey’s asbestos docket; the AAC provides a conduit for direct discussion between the Court and the Asbestos Bar on issues affecting asbestos litigation in New Jersey.

Kevin is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association (Product Liability and Toxic Tort Section; Environmental Law Section) and the Defense Research Institute.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Kevin obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
