Laura Donaldson

Vice President - Transportation Structures at Egis in Canada (formerly McIntosh Perry)

Laura Donaldson has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Laura started their career as an Engineering Intern at the City of Ottawa in 2000. Laura then worked as an EIT at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation from 2001 to 2002. In 2003, they served as an Engineering Intern at McCormick Rankin Corporation before becoming an Undergrad Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo, where they conducted research on repair techniques for corrosion-damaged members.

In 2004, Laura joined the Ontario Ministry of Transportation as a Developmental Project Engineer, and in 2008, they transitioned to the role of Structural Engineer. Laura stayed with the ministry until 2010 when they joined Egis in Canada (formerly McIntosh Perry) as a Bridge Engineer and Project Manager.

Over the years, Laura progressed within Egis in Canada, taking on roles such as Division Manager for Bridge Engineering and Asst VP of Transportation Structures. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President - Transportation Structures, leading a team of 25-30 professionals. Laura is responsible for strategic planning, providing leadership, and managing the day-to-day operations of their group. Laura is also involved in shaping the vision of the company as a key member of the strategic leadership team.

Laura Donaldson obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo between 1999 and 2004. In 2007, they pursued a specialization in Bridge Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada/Collège militaire royal du Canada. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) from the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) in 2007.
