Arun Marar, Ph.D. has a wealth of experience in data science and risk management. Arun began their career in 2002 as a Risk Strategist for Amaranth Advisors, where they were instrumental in the growth of the hedge fund from $250 million to $2.5 billion. In 2005, they moved to DKR Capital as a Risk Manager, where they championed the firmwide risk management and asset allocation strategy, resulting in a 50% increase in the Sharpe Ratio of the $3.7 billion multi-strategy fund. In 2007, they were appointed Head of Research and Risk Management at Robust Methods LLC. In 2013, they joined Orion Business Innovation as Head of Data Science and Analytics, where they used an NLP algorithm to represent information from audit reports, resulting in a 80% decrease in effort while keeping content relevance well above 90%. In 2017, they were appointed Director of Data Science at Tiger Analytics, where they expanded the analytics footprint in a large freight railroad company, increased the engagement size by 40%, built a predictive model of driver arrival time for pickup of an intermodal unit, and recommended an image processing algorithm to aid in real-time maintenance of railroad infrastructure.
