Mahmood Akhtar

Mahmood Akhtar has extensive experience in academia and research, currently serving as a Facilitator for the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program at McMaster University since July 2001. Previously, Mahmood held roles such as Research Specialist focusing on mitochondrial and muscular disorders and Postdoctoral Fellow conducting research in gastrointestinal physiology at the same institution. From March 2016 to January 2021, Mahmood was a Senior Principal Scientist and Director at King Fahad Specialist Hospital Dammam, overseeing research and administration. Earlier experiences include a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Maryland, specializing in GI research related to Helicobacter pylori, and a Lectureship at the University of Karachi from 1990 to 1994. Mahmood's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Nottingham and an M.Phil. in Microbiology from Karachi University.
