Sophie Weiwei Gao

Sophie Weiwei Gao, MD MBA, currently serves as Chief Resident and Cardiac Surgery Resident Physician at McMaster University since July 2017. Previously, Sophie held the position of Graduate Teaching Assistant at MIT Sloan School of Management from 2020 to January 2022, working under Professors Don Sull and Pierre Azoulay. Additionally, Sophie was a Venture Associate Intern at Foothill Ventures from May to September 2021 and served as Entrepreneur In Residence at NEXT Canada from December 2016 to August 2017. Sophie's education includes a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery from McGill University (2013-2017), an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management (2020-2022), and ongoing Cardiac Surgery Residency at McMaster University (2017-2024). Sophie's academic background also includes a Med-P Medicine Preparatory Year at McGill University (2012-2013), a DEC with Honours in Health Science from Marianopolis College (2010-2012), and a high school diploma from Collège Jean-Eudes (2005-2010).
