Janine Annett is a New York-based writer and educator with extensive experience in humor writing and freelance contributions. As the founder of Rivertowns Current since February 2024, Annett also serves as an instructor at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College and Gotham Writers Workshop. Annett has contributed regularly to major publications, including Scary Mommy, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, McSweeney’s, and The New York Times. In addition to freelance writing, Annett is the author of the book "I Am 'Why Do I Need Venmo?' Years Old," published by Running Press. Annett holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Barnard College (1992-1996).
