Abigail Gwinn has over seven years of experience in the field of education and community engagement. In 2013, they began their career as the Biology Department Laboratory Supervisor at Wofford College. In 2015, they joined the Peace Corps as a Secondary Science Teacher, where they taught biology and chemistry to 200 students 6th-8th grade and mentored 20 young girls ages 13-19 on sexual and reproductive health and life skills. In 2017, they joined the McWane Science Center, where they served as the Director of Community Engagement, Manager of Volunteer Services, and Education Specialist. In their roles, they guided the development, implementation, and evaluation of exhibit interpretation, public programming, and community engagement, recruited, trained, and retained the volunteer team, and engaged students and visitors through public, classroom, and outreach programs.
Abigail Gwinn attended Wofford College from 2009 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology. In 2012, they also attended the University of Wollongong to study Biology, General. In March 2021, they obtained a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) from the National Association for Interpretation. In July 2022, they obtained a Certified Interpretive Trainer (CIT) from the same institution.
