John Simpkins

John Simpkins has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. John is currently serving as the President/CEO at MDC since June 2020. Prior to that, they held positions such as Visiting Senior Lecturer at Duke University School of Law (since January 2017), Vice President of Aspen Global Leadership Network at Aspen Institute (from September 2019 to June 2020), and Executive Director of Transformative Health Institute at Prisma Health (from January 2018 to August 2019). John has also served as the General Counsel at USAID (from June 2015 to November 2016) and Deputy General Counsel at the Office of Management and Budget (from June 2013 to June 2015). Earlier in their career, they worked as the Director of Constitutional Advisory Services at New Frontier Capital Advisors (from March 2012 to June 2013) and as Of Counsel at Wyche, P.A. (from an unknown start date to June 2013). John also had a fellowship at Charleston School of Law (from an unknown start date to 2013) and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Victoria (from May 2011 to August 2011).

John Simpkins attended Harvard University from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (A.B.) in Government. Subsequently, from 1996 to 1999, they attended Duke University School of Law, earning both a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International and Comparative Law. The precise subject of their Doctor of Law (JD) and Master of Laws (LLM) degrees also focused on International and Comparative Law.
