Clayton Busenga has extensive experience in engineering, beginning with a role as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from June 2003 to June 2007, where involvement included three combat tours in Iraq as an Anti-Tank Assaultman. Since July 2011, Clayton has held various engineering positions with MEBA Dist 1-PCD (AFL-CIO). Currently, Clayton serves as a Port Engineer and previously held the position of First Assistant Engineer at Matson, Inc. from September 2015 to the present. In addition, Clayton worked as an Automation Consultant at Railside Brewing in 2017, where an automation system for the fermentation process was designed and built on a tight budget. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Technology from California State University Maritime Academy (2007-2011), continuing education in Marine Engineering from Calhoon M.E.B.A. Engineering School (2012-2018), and a course in Electrical Motor Controls from Clark College in 2018.
