John Burke

Chief Engineer at MEBA Dist 1-PCD (AFL-CIO)

John Burke has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John began their career in 1990 as a Chief Engineer for MEBA PCD-1 and later MEBA Dist 1-PCD (AFL-CIO), where they held various roles including 2 A/E and 3 A/E. In 1997, they joined the Woodshole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority as a Senior Chief Engineer. In 1999, they started their own business called J Burke Electrical. Most recently, in 2022, they became the Assistant Director of Facilities at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

John Burke attended the Massachusetts Maritime Academy from 1986 to 1990, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. John also attended the Peterson School, where they obtained a degree as a Third Engineer in Stationary Plant Operations. Additionally, they attended the Woburn Electrical School and earned certifications as a Master Electrician and Journeymen Electrician.
