Pieter Hoen

Pieter Hoen has a diverse work experience in the fields of urban planning, architecture, entrepreneurship, and academia. Pieter is currently the Director of Urbanism and Public Space Design at Mecanoo, a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to this role, they served as an Associate Urban Planner and Senior Urban Planner at Mecanoo from 2020 to 2021 and 2019 to 2020, respectively. Pieter also worked as an Urban Planner at Mecanoo from 2014 to 2019.

Before joining Mecanoo, Pieter worked as an Architect at West 8 from February 2007 to January 2014. Prior to their career in architecture, Pieter was an Entrepreneur at Tilalli Productions from October 2002 to December 2007.

Pieter's early career included roles at Delft University of Technology, where they served as an Assistant to Professor for the chair of Design Informatics from January 1999 to December 2003, and as an Assistant to Professor for the chair of Media from June 2000 to August 2002.

Pieter Hoen completed their primary education at Sinnemaschool from 1981 to 1989. Pieter then attended Slauerhoff College from 1989 to 1996, obtaining their VWO degree. Finally, they pursued a Msc degree in Architecture at Delft University of Technology from 1996 to 2006.
