Greg McCarty has an extensive work experience in the field of medicine. Greg started their career in 1991 as a Resident Physician at Carolinas Healthcare System. Greg then worked as an Attending Physician at Virginia Commonwealth University and later joined Wake Forest Baptist Health as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Director of Undergraduate Education. In 1999, they joined Emergency Medicine Physicians as a "Firefighter" Physician before moving to Gaston Memorial Hospital as an Attending Physician. In 2007, they became a Shareholder/Physician at Hendersonville Emergency Consultants. Greg also served as an Assistant Medical Director at UNC Health Pardee from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, they joined Med-Trans Corporation as the Medical Director for North Carolina. Greg continued their journey at UNC Health Pardee as the Chief Medical Officer/Vice President of Medical Affairs and later became the Medical Director of the Emergency Department. In 2021, they joined Pardee Emergency Physicians as the Medical Director of St. Luke's Emergency Department. Overall, Greg McCarty has held various roles and has accumulated a wealth of experience throughout their career.
Greg McCarty completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia in 1986. Greg then went on to pursue a degree in Medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 1991. Prior to their college education, they attended Brevard High School.
