Balaji Rajashekar has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and data analysis. Balaji is currently working as the Director of Clinical Bioinformatics at MEDGENOME since September 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Product Manager at Legato Health Technologies from January 2020 to September 2021.

Balaji Rajashekar completed their education in various institutions and fields of study. Balaji first attended St. Joseph's pre-university college in Bangalore from 1991 to 1993, where they pursued a PUC degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Afterward, from 1993 to 1996, they studied at St. Joseph's College, earning a B.Sc degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, and Botany.
Continuing their education, Balaji then pursued an M.Sc degree in Botany (Microbiology) from St. Joseph's College from 1996 to 1998. Balaji further expanded their academic background in bioinformatics, enrolling at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where they completed an Advance Diploma (ADB) in Bioinformatics from 2000 to 2001.
Balaji Rajashekar proceeded to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) from 2001 to 2002, undertaking a project in Molecular Biophysics. Finally, they pursued their Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology, Fungi, and Bioinformatics at Lund University from 2002 to 2008.
