Role Overview

The People Operations Manager will handle the day-to-day HR operations across all business locations, as well as contribute to broader People Operations programs and projects. Focus areas include (but are not limited to): benefits management, employee relations, project management, compliance and recordkeeping, company policies and practices, and assisting with HR-related inquiries and requests. This is an individual contributor role.

Responsibilities

  • Working on all aspects of the company’s benefits administration, including open enrollment processes, evaluation of offerings, employee benefits experiences, spend and claims evaluations, and resolving employee requests.Managing various HR projects, such as audits and reporting (e.g. EEOC) and handbook and policy updates.
  • Assisting with various events and activities throughout the year related to a broad range of People Operations topics, such as coordinating the performance review process and compensation changes.
  • Acting as a point of contact for team member communications related to key events, holidays, and company news.
  • Handling day-to-day HR operational tasks and compliance needs (such as ensuring that our operations and records/files are fully compliant with applicable employment laws), while also working to improve our HR operations. 
  • Managing (or assisting with) Leave of Absence requests and related matters, including partnering with senior team members to ensure that policies and procedures are current, and to continually improve employees’ experiences in these areas.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for routine employee relations issues.
  • Providing support and training to other team members on a range of topics (e.g. onboarding/offboarding and HRIS data entry/reporting).
  • Staying current on latest HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 - 10+ years of People Operations-related experience, with a core focus on HR administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR principles is a must; advanced knowledge of best practices around common public company policies and procedures (such as SOX) is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws/regulations. The ability to interpret and effectively implement relevant cases to satisfy all applicable jurisdictional requirements (MediaAlpha operates in multiple statutes, including CA and WA).
  • Excellent time management skills with a results-driven approach, and an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven success with acting as both player and teammate (able to work autonomously when needed, but excited to collaborate and work with others). 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient with work-related software and HR systems. (Experience with Namely HRIS a plus).
  • Proven ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.

Compensation & Benefits
