David Gommelet

David Gommelet has a strong background in the field of video compression and signal processing. David started their career as an intern at Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives in 2012. In 2013, they interned at Envivio, where they studied bidirectional motion estimation in different software codecs. David then joined Inria as a research engineer, where they worked on improving HEVC intra prediction and creating an eye-tracking database on HD videos. In 2014, David began their PhD in partnership with Ericsson TV & Media and SIROCCO research team, focusing on methods for improving backward-compatible high dynamic range compression. After completing their PhD in 2018, they joined VITEC as an R&D engineer. Currently, they work at MediaKind as a video compression engineer.

David Gommelet pursued their education in a systematic and progressive manner. In 2008, they began their academic journey by joining the Université de Rennes I, where they studied Computer Science and Electronics in the Preparatory class for Engineering School Entrance until 2010.

After this, they further expanded their knowledge and skills by enrolling at ESIR - Ecole Supérieure d'ingénieurs de Rennes. From 2010 to 2013, David pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer and Electrical Engineering, specializing in Computer Science and digital imaging.

Continuing their academic pursuits, David went on to join the Université de Rennes I once again in 2014. David embarked on a four-year journey as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student, focusing on Signal and Image Processing. This doctoral program allowed him to delve deeper into this specific field, gaining expertise and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Signal and Image Processing.

Throughout their education, David Gommelet has consistently demonstrated a strong academic commitment and a passion for computer science and electrical engineering. David'seducational journey has provided him with a solid foundation and expertise in various aspects of these fields, ultimately equipping him with the knowledge and skills necessary for professional success.
