Jean Kypreos

Principal Engineer Video Compression at MediaKind

Jean Kypreos has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of video compression. Jean is currently serving as a Principal Engineer at MediaKind since January 2019. Previously, they worked for Envivio for a significant part of their career. At Envivio, they held various roles including Innovation and Programs Video Expert from May 2014 onwards, Head of Advanced Video Compression Team from March 2009 to May 2014, and Project Leader from March 2007 to March 2009. In these positions, they were responsible for managing teams, developing new algorithms and advanced codec features, optimizing code, and balancing video quality and performance for different markets. Before Envivio, Jean worked as a Video SW Engineer at Thomson Multimedia from September 2000 to February 2005, where they were involved in the development of H264/AVC encoder, MPGE4 Part 2 decoder, and preprocessing techniques. Prior to that, they worked as a Video Processing Engineer at Thomson LER from September 1990 to August 2000. Overall, Jean Kypreos has a strong background in video compression and has contributed significantly to the development of video encoding technologies throughout their career.

Jean Kypreos attended ICPI Lyon from 1986 to 1990, where they obtained a degree in engineering. Their field of study included signal processing, physics, and electronics.
