Monika Watkins is an accomplished filmmaker and educator with extensive experience in the film industry. Currently serving as the Owner, Producer, and Director at both 74FILMS and Bird Set Free Films since 2022 and 2015 respectively, Monika's work focuses on producing documentaries and narratives that inspire and inform audiences, emphasizing themes of freedom. As a Film Instructor at MediaTech Institute since 2018 and a former Documentary Filmmaker, Program Director, and Film Instructor at the Nate Parker Foundation Summer Film Institute, Monika has played a significant role in mentoring emerging filmmakers, particularly within African and African American communities. Prior experience includes producing at AMS Pictures and owning Monika Watkins Photography, known for its editorial and photojournalism work. Monika Watkins holds a B.A. in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of North Texas and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Advertising at Southern Methodist University. Additionally, Monika has gained expertise in screenwriting through Robert McKee STORY and directing via the Commercial Directing Film School.
