Vivian Lu, Ph.D.

Vivian Lu, Ph.D. has been working in various roles since 2012. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Front Desk Receptionist at Irvine Dental Group, where they interfaced with patients to schedule and confirm appointments and contacted major dental insurances to confirm general and specific procedure benefits of patients. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at UC Irvine as a Teaching Assistant, Graduate Student Researcher in the Lab of Dr. Charles E. Wright, and Graduate UX Researcher in the Lab of Dr. Naomi Sugie. In 2018, they were a Human Factors Research Summer Intern at Huntley-Fenner Advisors, where they organized and analyzed unstructured data from customer reviews and conducted omnibus tests to identify significant differences between users from different sources. Since 2019, they have been working as a Senior Analyst and Data Analyst II at SureCritic, Inc., where they designed surveys to capture customer satisfaction and wrote complex MySQL scripts to query high-volume datasets. Currently, they are a Data Scientist at MediaWallah, where they utilize anomaly detection methods to identify aberrant records, creates cost-efficient data pipelines, and builds classification models using machine learning methods.

Vivian Lu, Ph.D. received their Doctor of Philosophy in Cognitive Sciences from UC Irvine in 2019. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from UC Irvine in 2015.
