Medibank Private Limited is a private health insurer. The Company underwrites and distributes private health insurance policies under its brands, including Medibank and ahm. The Company has two segments: Health Insurance and Complementary Services. The Health Insurance segment offers private health insurance products, including hospital cover and extras cover, as stand-alone products or packaged products that combine the two. Its hospital cover provides members with health cover for hospital treatments, whereas extras cover provides health cover for healthcare services, such as dental, optical and physiotherapy. The Health Insurance segment also offers health insurance products to overseas visitors and overseas students. The Complementary Services segment offers a range of activities, including contracting with government and corporate customers to provide health management services, as well as providing a range of telehealth services in Australia and New Zealand.

The board of directors at Medibank has a long and varied history. The current board is made up of individuals with experience in governance, risk, and integrity from Hawthorn Football Club, as well as experience in chairing the Gillespie Family Council and Gillespie Family Foundation. Additionally, the board has a chairman who is also a senior partner at EY, and a non-executive director at Inghams Group Limited. The board also includes a representative from Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, and the chairman of Japara Healthcare.
