John also served as the VP - Regional CEO at Carilion Clinic, where they provided strategic oversight for multiple hospitals and healthcare facilities. At HealthEast, they were the VP and Executive Medical Director, where they developed growth and performance improvement strategies and served as a dyad partner with the VP of Clinic and Outpatient Operations.

John began their academic journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics/Astronautics from 1989 to 1993. Following this, they attended Albany Medical College from 1993 to 1997, where they earned their MD degree. After practicing medicine for several years, they decided to broaden their knowledge in business administration and management. To achieve this, they enrolled at the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained an MBA with a specialization in Business Administration and Management, General.
