Cahal McVeigh

Cahal McVeigh is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in engineering and research, particularly in the medical device sector. Currently serving as Research Director at Medtronic since June 2010, Cahal has held multiple leadership roles, including Senior Program Manager and Senior Engineering Manager & Technical Fellow, where responsibilities included developing imaging and modeling competencies and optimizing virtual engineering strategies for product development. Prior to Medtronic, Cahal worked as a Senior Engineer at Exponent, focusing on materials and mechanics to address engineering challenges across diverse industries. Cahal's technical expertise encompasses advanced simulation, performance testing, and failure analysis utilizing commercial FEA packages, with a notable emphasis on implant design and medical devices. Cahal earned a PhD in Computational Mechanics and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University, following a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University Belfast.
