John Corey has a diverse work experience in the field of facilities management and HVAC systems. John started their career in 2001 as a Plumbing Apprentice at Dan Wood Co. In 2003, they worked as an Installer at Matthews Mechanical, and then moved on to Norris Heating and Cooling in 2004, where they installed heating and air conditioning systems.

In 2005, John joined A-1 Refrigeration as a Service Technician, specializing in the maintenance and repair of various HVAC systems. John also gained experience in building automation/DDS controls and became a member of the company's safety board. John worked there until 2010.

From 2010 to the present, John has been the Owner of Corey Contracting, LLC. John provides residential heating and cooling services, including system installations and consultations for homeowners.

In 2012, John worked as a Facilities Controls Technician at Kalamazoo RESA, responsible for HVAC/R, plumbing, lighting, and building automation systems. Additionally, they coordinated with Energy Education to improve energy efficiency in the facilities. In the same year, they briefly held the position of Lead System Specialist I at Johnson Controls.

John then returned to Kalamazoo RESA in 2012 as a Maintenance Supervisor/Technician. In this role, they conducted preventive maintenance, performed building inspections, and coordinated with outside contractors for maintenance services. This position ended in 2016.

Currently, John is working as a Facilities Manager at Medxcel Facilities Management, where they have been since 2016. This role involves managing the facilities and ensuring their efficient operation.

John Corey attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College from 2003 to 2012, where they obtained an AAS degree in HVAC. During their time there, they studied HVAC, Welding, and Construction. In 2011, they received a Technical Certification in NiagaraAX from Tridium, Inc. John also attended Western Michigan University from 1992 to 1995, where they pursued a degree in Music. In 2016, they obtained a Technical Certification from Tridium. In addition to their formal education, John holds various certifications including Niagara 4 Technical Certification (obtained in 2016 from Tridium), Certified Pool/Spa Operator Certification (obtained in 2013 from the National Swimming Pool Foundation), Confined Space Awareness Training (obtained in 2009 from DELISLE ASSOCIATES, LTD), R-410A Technician Certification (obtained in 2009 from Mainstream Engineering Corporation), EPA 609 MVAC Certification (obtained in 2009 from ESCO Institute), EPA 608 Universal Certification (obtained in 2005 from ESCO Institute), and a Mechanical Contractor License (obtained in 2009 from the State of Michigan).
