Maria Chi-Chable is an accomplished scholar currently serving as an Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT) Scholar at Phillips Academy since June 2022. Maria is also a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a position held since May 2021. Previous roles include Student Lead Teacher at Next Generation Scholars (NGS) and Chair of Student Recruitment at Embolden. Maria's experience in education began with positions at Wellesley College and continued with teaching responsibilities at NGS. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies from Wellesley College.
