Steven Toy is currently the CEO of Memrise. Prior to that, they were the General Manager at Apalon from December 2017 to December 2019. During their time at Apalon, they were tasked with leading, shaping and growing all aspects of the business, with the implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives that align with company objectives. Steven led a geographically dispersed team of 200 multi-functional employees, with full P&L responsibility. Some of their key accomplishments include reversing a revenue slide and driving a 2.3x increase in revenues within 12 months, and surpassing company global employee satisfaction by addressing culture, revenue model, improving product quality and data issues. Steven also drove a 4x increase in subscription revenue.
Prior to their time at Apalon, Steven Toy was the Venture Lead at EY from November 2016 to December 2017. In this role, they were selected to establish and execute the strategy on AI projects, with the objective of driving top and bottom line profitability. Steven was responsible for coordinating internal resources and monitoring projects, from inception to completion. Some of their key accomplishments include improving efficiency achieved a reduction of labor hours from 400 to 1 with implementation of a Machine Learning system for classification of tax transactions.
Steven Toy received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Swarthmore College.
