Mark Lorenzen has extensive experience as a fire chief, having worked in this role for two prominent fire departments. Mark most recently served as the Fire Chief for the Menlo Park Fire Protection District, starting in February 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Fire Chief at the Ventura County Fire Department for a decade, from March 2012 to February 2022.
Mark Lorenzen attended UC Santa Barbara from 1981 to 1986, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Business Economics. Mark then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree in Public Management from California State University-Dominguez Hills, completing their studies from 2007 to 2010. In 2011, Mark Lorenzen enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Program - EFO Certificate at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and completed the program in 2015.
