Interim Chief Operating Officer at Men's Health Foundation

Carlos Vega-Matos has had an extensive and diverse work experience in the public health sector. Carlos most recently served as the Interim Chief Operating Officer at Men's Health Foundation, where they provided leadership and oversight of the organization's clinical, facilities, and programmatic operations. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director of Public Programs at the same organization, where they provided overall leadership and management to the organization's publicly-funded programs addressing men's health and wellness.

Before joining the Men's Health Foundation, Carlos worked at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in various roles. Carlos served as the Deputy Director of Children's Medical Services, providing administrative and operational direction and support to programs addressing critical health needs of children and youth. Carlos also worked at the Division of HIV and STD Programs, where they held roles such as Chief of Contracted Community Services, Chief of HIV Care Services Division, Chief of Clinical Enhancements Division, and Chief of Provider Support Services. In these roles, they directed and managed contracts, programs, and services aimed at improving health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County.

Carlos also has experience in leadership roles outside of the public health sector. Carlos served as the Executive Director of Neighbor's Consejo, where they addressed the housing, behavioral health, and vocational needs of low-income Latino immigrants. Additionally, they worked as an Independent Consultant at Vega-Matos Consulting and as the Deputy Executive Director for Programs at the AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth & Families.

Earlier in their career, Carlos worked at the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) as an Associate Executive Director and Project Director.

Carlos Vega-Matos has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Universidad de Puerto Rico. Additionally, they hold a Master's degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University.
