Nancy Hernandez

Senior Scientist, Protein Design at Menten AI

Nancy Hernandez is a senior scientist at Menten AI, where they create the next generation of protein-based drugs powered by machine learning and quantum computing. Nancy has always been interested in the relationship between biology and chemistry and how they can be used to improve human health. Nancy first pursued this interest as an undergraduate research assistant at Rutgers University, where they worked on a project to create cell lines for the development of protein expression using mammalian expression systems. Nancy then went on to earn their PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Rutgers University, where they used the Rosetta software suite to design and create novel proteins and enzymes with new functions. After completing their PhD, Nancy took a position as a biologist/reviewer with the FDA, where they worked on a project to develop cell lines for the development of protein expression using lentiviral vectors. Nancy then took a position as a postdoctoral research fellow with the FDA, where they continued to work on the project they started during their internship. Nancy is now a senior scientist at Menten AI, where they are working on creating the next generation of protein-based drugs powered by machine learning and quantum computing.

Nancy Hernandez has a PhD from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick in Chemistry and Chemical Biology & Computational Biology and Molecular Biophysics. Nancy has experience in computational protein design utilizing Rosetta software suite and experimental techniques required to express, purify, and characterize the designed proteins. Designed proteins include those of the atrazine metabolic pathway in order to utilize them for bioremediation and characterized the first time ever a designed protein formed a fractal structure. Experience in a range of structural biology and enzymology techniques, please refer to relevant experimental skills and peer-reviewed publications.
