Join Mentimeter as our Data Engineering & Data Platform Director, where you will play a crucial role in expanding and guiding our Data Platform Team to achieve mission-critical business goals.

At Mentimeter, our Data Platform Team is at the forefront of building data products and services that steer the company's strategic direction. As a pivotal part of our Data and Analytics organization—which includes AI, analytics engineering, data science, data analytics, and insights—the Data Platform Team collaborates closely with our Engineering and Tech Foundation organization. Here, you will develop a robust data ecosystem that supports various departments (Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance) with both data and infrastructure. Your contributions will directly influence Mentimeter’s business and product decisions, driving us toward a data-driven future.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and nurture a team of 6 data engineers to design, develop, and deliver modern data platform capabilities and data ecosystem for the company
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, data professionals, engineering leadership and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into data platform capabilities
  • Define roadmap and requirements for our data platform based on internal and external customer needs, business objectives and market trends
  • Prioritize data platform capabilities and initiatives to maximize business value
  • Guide the data platform team and engineering through enhancements of data flows across the data ecosystem
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to improve skills and knowledge in relevant areas
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets for data platform initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with data governance policies and security standards
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement

We believe you have

  • 10 years of experience working with data engineering and data platforms, with at least 4 dedicated years nurturing and leading a team
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts and technologies, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Great communication, interpersonal, and project management skills - you connect with team members and stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned and informed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling you to approach challenges with a thoughtful and solution-orientated mindset, including communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to flourish in a dynamic, exciting, and fast-paced environment 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, DBT and product management experience

Not required:

  • Swedish is not required (as daily work is carried out in English and the Mentimeter team currently boasts 50+ different nationalities)

Please note that this role will have its base in our Stockholm office and is primarily an onsite role, with the opportunity to work from home twice per week.
