James McCarthy has an extensive work experience spanning over two decades. James is currently employed as the Senior Director of Product Marketing at Mention Me, a company that helps household names leverage customer advocates for business growth. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Product Marketing at Similarweb, where they played a crucial role in positioning and messaging the company's core products for scalability after it went public.

Before Similarweb, James served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Exonar. James also worked at Microsoft, where they held multiple roles, including SMB Product Marketing Lead for Microsoft 365, Head of Consumer Brand for Windows, and Director of Windows Mobile for Microsoft UK. At Microsoft, they successfully raised the profile of the small/medium business market segment and drove growth in the Windows Mobile business.

James is also an entrepreneur, having founded and served as the CEO of brightfly, a company that assisted large brands in launching and growing emerging products. Additionally, they co-founded SellStorm, a technology market acceleration business that provided outsourced go-to-market services.

Earlier in their career, James gained valuable experience at Vodafone Group Plc in various roles, including Senior Category Manager and Business Alliances Manager. James McCarthy attended Culford School from 1987 to 1992. James then went on to the University of Bath, where they obtained their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from 1992 to 1996.
