Umair Khan

Partner at Mentors Fund

Umair Khan is a Partner at Mentors Fund, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage technology companies. Prior to joining Mentors Fund, Umair was a Founding Board Member of Petzam, a telehealth platform that uses live mobile video to connect pet owners to their own veterinarian for one-on-one, real-time advice.

Before their work in the tech industry, Umair was an Advisor for the Academic Achievements Program (AAP), a volunteer-powered after-school intervention program focused on Grade 6 - 8 Math and English in low-performing schools in Pakistan. AAP uses a "micro-volunteerism" model to implement a series of two-month modules with a specific curriculum and learning outcomes. Assessments are conducted at the start and end of every module.

A native of Pakistan, Umair graduated from the Aspen Institute and has worked in various restaurants, including Zareen's Restaurants, which has been awarded Michelin stars in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Umair Khan attended the Karachi Grammar School where they completed their GCE A-Levels in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and further mathematics. Umair then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where they obtained their SB in mathematics with computer science and their SM in computer engineering. After graduating from MIT, Khan was named a Fellow of the Institute through the Henry Crown Fellowship at the Aspen Institute.
