Sebastian Fernandez

Sebastian Fernandez is the SVP & Chief People Officer at Mercado Libre. Sebastian has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, including management and education.

Sebastian started their career in 1992 as a Trainee at Colgate Palmolive. Sebastian then worked as a Staffing, Training & Development Specialist at Iberia from 1994 to 1998. In 1999, they became a Human Resources Specialist at American Airlines.

After a year at American Airlines, Sebastian returned to Argentina to work as the Management Education Coordinator at IDEA. Sebastian then became the Human Resources Manager at M. & M. Bomchil in 2000 and held that position until 2004.

In 2004, Sebastian joined Mercado Libre as the Head of Human Resources. In their current role as SVP & Chief People Officer, they are responsible for all aspects of human resources, including recruiting, training & development, and employee relations.

Sebastian Fernandez has a BA in Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires, an MA in Human Resources Strategic Management from Universidad de 'San Andrés', and is a Certified Organizational Coach from Universidad de 'San Andrés'. Sebastian also has an Executive Program in Talent Management and a Senior HR Executive Program from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a Strategic HR Executive Program and HR Executive Program from the University of Michigan.
