S. Marshall Martin

Marshall is an accomplished leader with more than 30 years of real estate, bank regulatory, compliance, risk management, finance/accounting, and legal experience. He joined Amerant Bank as EVP, Chief Administrative & Legal Officer responsible for the organization’s administrative support functions, including physical security, as well as its corporate governance and legal affairs in June of 2022. Prior to joining the Bank, Marshall, and a team of seasoned mortgage banking executives, in partnership with Amerant Bank, formed Amerant Mortgage, LLC in 2020 to provide the marketplace a differentiated mortgage experience.

Marshall holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois, a CPA certificate, and dual undergraduate degrees in finance and international business from Florida International University (FIU). He is adjunct professor at the FIU Law School, where he teaches banking and finance law/regulation. He has served on the advisory board for the Florida International Bankers Association’s AML Compliance Conference, the task force for the ACAMS AML & Financial Crime Conference, and was co-chair of ACAMS South Florida Chapter. Marshall is past president of the South Florida Banking Institute and is a member of its Board of Directors. He also serves on the FIU President’s Counsel, the Florida Banker’s Association Government Relations Committee, and the United Way Miami Legal Cabinet. He is a frequent speaker domestically and internationally on issues related to anti-money laundering and banking/financial law and regulation.
