James Broughel

Senior Research Fellow at Mercatus Center

James Broughel serves as a Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and a Visiting Fellow at The Hoover Institution, Stanford University. With extensive experience at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where James holds the title of Senior Research Fellow and has contributed to various research projects related to federal and state regulatory issues, Broughel has authored academic papers and policy briefs. Additional roles include Senior Fellow at the Virginia Institute for Public Policy, Contributor at Forbes, and Senior Editor at The Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University. Broughel has also taught law students at George Mason University and engaged in multiple roles within the U.S. Department of Energy related to regulatory issues. Broughel earned a PhD in Economics from George Mason University and holds both an MA and BA in Economics from Hunter College.
