Jason Downey

Jason Downey is an experienced legal professional and educator currently serving as the Immediate Past Chairman and a Board Member of the State Board of Education in Georgia, where Jason also chairs the State Schools Committee and was unanimously elected as Chairman in 2022. Downey is a Trial Attorney at Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C. and has previously held positions with Morgan & Morgan, P.A. and The Downey Law Firm, LLC, where Jason managed a personal injury practice. With a strong focus on educational reform, Downey is also an appointed member of the Georgia Behavioral Health Reform and Innovation Commission and serves on the Board of Visitors for Mercer University's Tift College of Education. A graduate of Mercer University - Walter F. George School of Law, Downey has a diverse background in law, mediation, and public relations within the legal community.
