James Kugler

Chief Digital Officer at Merck Group

James Kugler has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. James started their career as a Research Associate at MIT in 2005. James then went on to work as a Research Associate at Washington University School of Medicine and as a Research Fellow in Genetics at Harvard Medical School. In 2008, they joined Terrain Tracker, where they served as a Renaissance Man until 2014. In the same year, they started working at Sigma-Aldrich, initially as the Corporate Strategy & Planning Manager and later taking on roles such as eBusiness Manager, Global New Product Development & Introduction, Manager of Biology, and Director of Global Digital Marketing. In 2016, they became the Chief Digital Officer at Merck Group. James later joined Syntropy as a Director in 2018. In 2019, they assumed the position of CEO of EMD Digital at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Most recently, in 2021, they became the EVP at Athinia.

James Kugler attended Cape Cod Academy from 2001 to 2005, where they completed their high school education and received a secondary diploma or certificate. After completing high school, James went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis from 2005 to 2009. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in the field of study.
