Michael Seganish

Michael Seganish is a Distinguished Scientist and Executive Scientific Director in Discovery Chemistry at Merck in South San Francisco. They completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University under Professor Barry Trost from 2006 to 2008, where they developed new dinuclear zinc aldol reactions and optimized a rhodium-catalyzed cycloisomerization reaction. Michael earned a BS in Biochemistry and Physiology, followed by a PhD in Chemistry, both from the University of Maryland. Their tenure at Merck has included roles ranging from Associate Principal Scientist to Director in Discovery Chemistry from 2012 to 2023.
