David Byrne

David is Mercury's Bid Director. His career with the company began in 1996 when he was hired as an electrical apprentice. During this time, David worked primarily in commercial, process, and pharmaceutical projects in Ireland. In 2000, he was promoted to a Junior Estimator and Quantity Surveyor and was relocated to Mercury’s head office. In his current role as Bid Director, he is responsible for managing Mercury's projects from pre-qualification stage to estimating contract awards.

David leads a functional area comprising both estimation and pre-construction teams which when combined feed into the overall Bid Management process which he has played a substantial role in developing within Mercury. David reports directly to the Executive Management Team (EMT) who feel that the development of the Bid Management process greatly assists the business in identifying both the risk and opportunities associated with projects during their tender stages.

David holds various industry positions including membership of the PT&C committee of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) in Ireland. He was also recently appointed as Chairman of the Contracts Committee of the CIF.
