Your role:

As the Management Accountant at Mercuryo you will play a key role in the accounting and reporting operations of the whole business, covering multiple group entities. Reporting directly to the Head of Group Reporting, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting including balance sheet analysis which will assist in providing financial guidance to support business decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:
  • Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for each entity, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and cost reports, in line with month end close timetables.
  • Calculating and maintaining records of accruals and prepayments
  • Ensuring the accounting of revenues and associated costs are fully reconciled to core system reports.
  • Maintaining compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Variance analysis to prior periods and the budget.
  • Maintain strong balance sheet control through detailed monthly reconciliations.

  • Monitoring of regulatory capital level of the EMI business.
  1. Tax and Audit:
  • Assist with the annual external audit.

  • Coordinate tax compliance computations (VAT and Corporation) and adherence to global tax legislation alongside established external advisers.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to implement process improvement and efficiencies across the finance function.

  • Work with the finance management to develop accounting policies and understanding of the full accounting flow of all products.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Part qualified (or higher) accountant with a recognised body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • Experience of working as a management accountant or similar role.

  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret high volumes of financial data.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • A high degree of organisational and strategic thinking skills

  • Knowledge of accounting systems

  • Capable of working effectively within a small team
