Turgut Fettah Kosar has extensive experience in laboratory and facilities management. Turgut Fettah is currently working as the Director of Laboratory Operations at Mercy BioAnalytics, Inc. since September 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Global Head of Facilities and Laboratory Operations at Dewpoint Therapeutics from December 2020 to August 2021.
From 2016 to 2020, Kosar worked at Indigo, where they held different roles including Associate Director and Senior Manager of Laboratory and Facilities. Turgut Fettah was responsible for overseeing laboratory operations and facilities management during this time.
Before joining Indigo, Kosar served as a Laboratory Manager at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering from December 2014 to May 2016.
From 2006 to 2014, they worked at Harvard University's Center for Nanoscale Systems in various roles including Technical Manager, Principal Scientist, and Soft Lithography Foundry Engineer. Turgut Fettah was responsible for managing the NanoMaterials Facilities and had expertise in soft lithography, microfluidics, BioMEMS, nanoparticles, and X-ray microCT.
Kosar started their career in research at the University of Washington, where they worked as a Senior Fellow and Research Assistant in different labs from 2000 to 2006. Turgut Fettah co-invented and applied for multiple patents related to microfluidic devices and bacterial synchronization techniques during this period.
Additionally, Kosar has experience in evaluating early-stage technologies for their business potential. Turgut Fettah worked as a WRF Capital/Gates Fellow at the University of Washington Business School in 2004, where they assessed various technologies and developed a business plan for a novel ultrasound technology.
Before their career in science and research, Kosar also worked as the Vice President and Chief of R&D at Kosar Leather Company, where they established a new R&D department and optimized manufacturing processes.
Kosar holds a postgraduate researcher and research assistant experience from the University of California, Davis, where they worked in the Phillips Lab from 1992 to 1995.
Turgut Fettah Kosar has a diverse education history. Turgut Fettah started their academic journey in 1987 at Boğaziçi University, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1991. Following this, they pursued further studies and earned a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of California, Davis, which they completed between 1991 and 1993. Looking to broaden their expertise, from 1999 to 2005, Kosar attended the University of Washington and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering, with a focus on Nanotechnology. Lastly, they pursued postgraduate studies at the Harvard Extension School from 2010 to 2015, where they obtained a Master of Liberal Arts degree with a specialization in Management.
